Content and cultivation

In the diet, representatives of Australorp black are not picky and do not differ much from other chickens. Feeding the chickens begins with a grated egg, and if desired, add grated grain. Weakened chicks should be fed with a mixture consisting of milk with the addition of chicken yolk.

When growing up, you can make chopped greens in the diet. Around the tenth day of life, wheat bran is recommended, as well as, if desired, chopped beef and bones, various root vegetables (carrots and beets), potatoes. In the second month of life, corn can be added to the diet. And if the walking of young stock is impossible, then from five days of age, the chicks should be given fish oil in a dosage of 0.1 gram per chick.

In the diet of adult individuals, cereals, potatoes and boiled peelings, carrots, beets, boneless fish waste, grass, vegetables, and dairy products should be present.

In winter, birds should be fed with eggshell, a source of calcium, and sand should be given to improve digestion.

In life, these birds are quite undemanding. But with the maintenance of the floor it is extremely important to monitor such a litter indicator as humidity. With a high rate of moisture in the litter, favorable conditions are created for the development of harmful microorganisms, which is dangerous for the bird.

Peat is the best option for bedding. It perfectly absorbs moisture and eliminates unpleasant odors, has bactericidal properties and dries paws, so that birds do not catch cold.
