Care for chrysanthemums in the garden

The golden color of the middle of the inflorescence is one of the few features characteristic of all chrysanthemums. In general, hundreds of varieties of this plant differ in color and shape, and flowering time, the requirements for care. But there are a number of rules common to all varieties of chrysanthemums.

Planting chrysanthemums:

Firstly, these flowers do not tolerate the proximity of groundwater, so plant them best on high ground. Chrysanthemums are sun-loving, but during and after planting they suffer from bright sunshine.

Chrysanthemums are planted in spring. The best time for planting almost all varieties is May. Sometimes chrysanthemums are planted in the fall. But the work in this case occurs no later than September 15, since the flower needs time for rooting.

When planting in a pit with a depth of about 35-40 cm., A drainage layer is laid. It may be broken bricks, rubble, gravel, coarse river sand. Land for chrysanthemums is often mixed with biohumus (at the rate of 18: 1 or 20: 1). The root system is usually located parallel to the soil, so chrysanthemums do not deepen deeply when planted.

For the same reason, large varieties are recommended to be planted at a distance of at least half a meter from each other. Low flowers with not very sprawling buds can be planted in 25-35 centimeters.

Chrysanthemum care

Chrysanthemums are considered unpretentious in the care. However, they must be constantly watered, fed, loosened the trunk circle, protected from rodents, and some varieties must be mulched. For the winter, chrysanthemums are covered with a hard (frame) cover and polyethylene.

In January, the bushes are recommended to be transplanted and transferred to a summer veranda or to a house, where some varieties, if they are grafted, can continue flowering in June. Chrysanthemum houses are kept in wide pots or wooden boxes. To saturate the root system, the stems of faded plants are low pruned.

Seedlings with already developed roots immediately planted and watered. For better rooting, add a certain amount of root to the solution. Chrysanthemums are also covered in spring. Shoots for this are taken up to 15 cm in length ...

From chrysanthemum seeds begin to grow in March. A friable, moist garden soil is taken for planting, which is slightly sprinkled on top and covered with a plastic bag.

The tray with chrysanthemum seeds during cultivation should be in a room with a comfortable room temperature not lower than 22 degrees. The soil should not be too wet or too dry.

It is best to periodically spray it with a spray bottle. After a week or two in the tray may appear the first shoots.
