Ukrainian potatoes in Europe are not welcome

Europe refused to offer to open the market for potatoes from Ukraine, which became clear during the videoconference of the European Commission and Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

The European Commission proposed to Ukraine to correct the legislation relating to the cultivation of potatoes. After that, it will be possible to return to the question of its sale to European countries.

In 2018, Europe suffered from drought, as a result of which the potato harvest decreased by 30%. Only in Belarus and Ukraine, the yield was up to par. In 2018, industrial root producers could store 152 thousand tons of potatoes.

Today, potato growers in the country seek to demand from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy the European legislative acts relating to the cultivation of potatoes in order to adapt them to the modern conditions of Ukraine.

Members of the Ukrainian Association of Potato Producers express confidence that local potatoes have all the prospects for entering the markets of European countries. In this, the Ukrainian potato producers will be helped by the free trade zone between Ukraine and the European Union and the harmonization of Ukrainian and European legislation.
