That's just what to do for those who live in the central zone, where the cold is most of the year?

Breeders have long and successfully cope with this problem - there are varieties of grapes that are not afraid of minus temperatures.

One of these varieties - Ruslan.

What kind is it?

Ruslan is a hybrid table subspecies of blue grapes with early ripening. Harvest can be removed in early August. It can persist on the bushes for a long time, but high sugar cannot be obtained from it.

Early ripening varieties are also the White Miracle, Novocherkassk Jubilee, Pharaoh and Sangiovese.

It is also used in bouquets of red wine, and in jam, liqueurs, jams, but mainly fresh because of the rich fruit flavor with distinct plum notes. Berries do not crack, do not rot. Normally withstand transportation and storage, subject to conditions.

Breeding history

Ruslan is a young subspecies obtained from parent cultures of Kuban and Zaporozhye Gift. Currently distributed in the southern regions of the former Soviet Union is being tested in Belarus, but breeders claim that he will easily be able to take root in the middle lane, right up to the Urals and Siberia.

Specifications

Ruslan is very prolific, even dormant buds and stepchildren "shoot out". Usually tied with three inflorescences on the shoot. The vine matures almost completely, along the entire length of the growth.

It needs pruning for six to eight eyes, leaving a rate of 35 per bush. It is frost-resistant, maintains "minus" to 23 degrees Celsius.

In regions where the thermometer falls below - 16, it requires mandatory shelter.

The Beauty of the North, Super Extra and Pink Flamingo are also particularly frost resistant.

Does not like excessive moisture, although not prone to rotting. Well perceives additional care in the form of dressings. Excellent "friendly" with stocks.

The percentage of sugar content in Ruslan is 18 Brix; acidity level is around 6 g / l. Not afraid of wasps, or gray rot, or mealy grows (oidium and mildew). The resistance to phylloxera has not yet been precisely determined.

Diseases and pests

Ruslan is a real hero. He was not afraid of wasps or bacteria. Birds, perhaps, will be disturbed. Against them, it is enough to fence the vineyard into a solid, inflexible mesh with small cells.

Rope type of fishing, it is better not to use if you do not want to receive a regular "harvest" in the form of heart-rending screaming, agonizing and dead birds. It is also better not to rely on scarecrows and frightening poster and balls with painted big-eyed faces of peregrine falcons and kites.

Phylloxera is a very dangerous enemy grapes in all areas where it grows. It is very difficult to fight it, especially since the parasite takes nothing but volatile carbon disulfide.

Shrubs sprayed with a solution in the proportion of 300-400 cubic centimeters per square meter. It also harms the vine itself, but it is better to sacrifice the diseased part than the whole vineyard - the aphid itself will not lag behind. However, with a dose of 80 “cubes” recommended by many farmers, the bush has every chance to survive.

Another attack to fear is bacterial cancer. It occurs on damaged areas. Because before buying it is necessary to carefully inspect the cuttings for wounds and scratches. Planting grapes, seedlings are better not to disturb once again and handle them carefully - a tumor can develop from any damage. The diseased bush is grubbed and burned.

As for such common grape diseases as anthracnose, bacteriosis, chlorosis, rubella, some preventive measures may not be harmful.

Grapes Ruslan - a real gift to residents of the middle lane, especially for beginners and those who do not want to spend a lot of effort on the garden. He is very unpretentious, not afraid of parasites, or even wasps, which greatly simplifies the task for those who decided to get this miracle on their site.
