Indian potato harvests destroy abnormal rains

About 4.6 thousand hectares (area of potato cultivation in West Bengal) was destroyed due to anomalous rains. Livni began in the Indian region on February 24 and lasted until March 1, turning the fertile soil for growing crops into swampy mud. The farmers, who at that time began harvesting in the above region, are sure: the tubers left in the soil will simply rot.

According to agrarians of Bengal, such spontaneous incidents are not isolated. Last year, the rains were also responsible for the destruction of the harvest. Following the forecasts of analysts and experts in the field of agriculture, all the factors for cultivation indicated that the harvests would have to be rich, but the weather, as always, made its own adjustments.

After all damage reports have been received in Calcutta, the state government will consider compensation for farmers.

Recall that recently, practically among all the states of India, a wave of farmer protests was passed. The main purpose of the protests was to raise questions about compensating farmers for damage due to lack of profits and uncontrolled inflation, as well as creating irrigation systems for farmers who live in arid regions of India.
