If the grower is interested in relatively early terms of ripening of grapes in the presence of well-balanced qualities, then he should pay attention to the variety "Mavr".
His beautiful and juicy berries of rich black color are the result of the practical implementation of the author's idea of the variety about the expansion of the color range of their pets.
What species is this variety?
"Moor" is a dining variety with early and medium term aging.. One of its main advantages is a short period (up to 125 days), which runs from the moment of the ovary to the harvest.
Like many other products of Zaporozhye amateur breeder Vitaly Zagorulko, "Mavr" refers to hybrid forms. Due to this, the author managed to accentuate the taste of the berries, as well as improve some of the properties of the plant, necessary for successful distribution.
Usually grown on open ground, in places well lit by the sun.
Among the hybrids are popular Aladdin, Blagovest and Valery Voevoda.
Grapes "Mavr": variety description
This variety has such specific features:
- Bush. Refers to vigorous type. Experts characterized as having a sufficiently high resistance to many pests and specific diseases.
- Vine. Under normal, with the observance of all the rules of agrotechnical development, powerful and long (up to 3 m) shoots are formed on the bushes. In the presence of suitable climatic conditions it matures well.
- Flower. Bisexual (hermaphroditic type). This circumstance frees the farmer from the need to organize artificial pollination.
- Berry. It has a very beautiful deep black color, in which the dense skin is colored long before the full ripening of the fruit. The typical size of a berry is from large to very large (on average 24 x 36 mm), the average weight of a berry is from 10 to 14 g (some reach a weight of 18 g). The shape of the berry is usually round.
- Bunch. It differs in a fairly large spread of dimensions, the largest weighing approximately 800-1400 g. It has a mainly conical configuration, sometimes with a pronounced wing. The average cluster does not differ in the increased density and in most cases it turns out to be medium soft.
Among the black varieties should pay attention to Moldova, Bull's Eye and Livadia black.

Breeding history and breeding region
The grapes "Mavr" created a breeder Vitaly Zagorulko at his vineyard in the Zaporizhzhya region (Ukraine).
"Moor" - a relatively young hybrid. It was obtained as a result of purposeful pollination of grapes Gift Zaporozhye with pollen from the mid-late variety "Tamerlane".
The crossing was carried out in the framework of the individual program of the Ukrainian specialist for the cultivation of grape varieties with early ripening.
Hand Zagorulko also belong to Asya, Ruta, Vodogray and Viking.
Product specifications
The great advantage of this grape is its remarkable taste characteristics, as well as some operational and commercial qualities, including good frost resistance, a high degree of fruit preservation.
Ripe berries, "Moor" can be quite a long time not to pluck from the bushes. At the same time, they completely retain their taste. But one should not allow excessive overexposure in unpicked form, especially with a clear increase in the humidity level.
In this case, ripe berries can crack and dry. The very taste of a ripe, fleshy and pleasantly crunchy berry is distinguished by balance, which harmoniously complements the pronounced shade of ripe plum.
Romeo, Ataman and Lily of the Valley demonstrate a harmonious taste.
All of these attractive consumer properties can be achieved only in the case of proper and constant care for this naughty variety. So, in order to achieve good yields from it, you should use an average trim level, while maintaining on each bush an average of 23-25 shoots.
However, the variety reproduces very well with cuttings. The first harvest will have to wait 3 years from the time it was planted.
"Moor" has good resistance to frost - up to -19 ... -22 ° C. This ability allows you to actively grow it in Russian vineyards and in other CIS countries. But despite the good frost resistance of this variety, experienced growers recommend covering the bush for the winter period.
Diseases and pests
This grape reacts differently to known diseases of the crop and insect pests.. In particular, he good resistance such "popular" grape ailments as mildew and oidium, demonstrating a resistance coefficient to them within 3 - 3.5 points.
However, "Mavr" poorly resistant to black spot and phylloxera. Phomopsis viticola Sacc, or black spot (other names - fomopsis, escoriosis, death of shoots), is a fungal disease that affects the grape bush, especially the leaves and annual shoots.
As it is easy to guess, visually it looks like black (dark brown) rounded spots, accumulating mainly in the nodes of the shoots, starting in June. On closer examination, it has the appearance of tissue blistering on the bark of the shoot, which crowns dead dead stomata.
As the fungus develops, the spots grow, eventually turning into a cluster of scaly formations. The infected leaves gradually turn yellow and die off, the areas of the shoots rot, and the infected berries acquire an extremely unpleasant taste.
In order to eliminate this problem, they first carry out a clearing pruning, and then in the winter they spray the bush with such means as dinoseb or DNOC.
Additional spring processing is carried out after the beginning of spring grape growth (after the release of the first grape leaf) with the use of fungicidal preparations. Shrub is re-treated after the appearance of 2-3 leaves, every 10 days before the start of spraying against mildew fungus.
Do not forget about the prevention of diseases such as anthracnose, chlorosis, bacteriosis and rubella.
One of the gravest enemies of grapes, the phyloxera grape, affects both the soil and the root system of the plant (in the second case, the effective control of it is very difficult).
As a result of infection by this pest, specific growths are formed on the roots of the vine, which interfere with the normal nutrition of the plant.
The weakened grapes begin to freeze, fall behind in development, grow poorly and slowly. In the end, after some time (up to 3-4 years) after the start of the attack of phylloxera, the plant dies.
Since phylloxera from a diseased bush constantly moves to neighboring bushes, the lesion can be extensive and often has the shape of a circle.
When a pest focus is found, the infected area is cleared of plants and treated with carbon disulfide. However, these measures do not fully guarantee the destruction of the malicious aphid. For this reason, the relevant authorities that organize the quarantine of a given place must be informed.
As for preventive methods against leaf forms of phylloxera, it is recommended to spray bushes with a 6% solution of carbolineum or an oil emulsion with lindane.
Thus, the grapes "Mavr" requires special attention. But it is worth it, since in taste and commodity parameters it has proven itself well among amateurs and specialists.
Also, special attention when growing require Shahinya Iran, Syrah and Black Emerald.
